Business parameters

Set load, capacity and required backup independently

Use strategy

Choose the main business task for BESS in the calculation

Arbitrage without export is behind-the-meter savings on own consumption. If export is enabled, surplus above own load is valued at the DAM market price.

Backup priority Reliability: BESS keeps charge in advance before planned outages.

What this gives the business

Short business summary without technical details
Profile: shop, office, cafe or small production site BESS 125/260 for backup and savings

The system reduces peak electricity costs and partly replaces diesel during outages.

Data quality and calculation assumptions

The model passport updates after API data is loaded
Tariffs Waiting for API Manual model is used until data is loaded.
Hourly model SOC fallback The annual DAM series has not been loaded yet.
Exchange rate Manual rate The NBU rate will be applied after loading.
Diesel Manual price Diesel price will be loaded from an open source.
CAPEX Price list needs review The FOB curve is based on a reference configuration.
Assumptions DP + 8760/SOC DoD 85%, round-trip efficiency 93%, resource by EFC.
Purpose Pre-project estimate Final specification after site audit.
Warnings will appear here if API data or the hourly series are incomplete.

Current tariff data

DAM data comes from the Market Operator; transmission and distribution from NEURC.
Manual model is used until current data is loaded.
The annual SOC model is waiting for hourly DAM prices.

* Battery resource is the estimated cost of used BESS warranty cycles, not a separate annual payment and not accounting depreciation.

Technical savings breakdown, year 1

The model separates tariff arbitrage and diesel generation replacement
Tariff arbitrage: charge -> discharge Annual SOC model: discharge 25.4 MWh, charge 45.9 MWh, EFC ~540/year

Methodology

What is included in the calculation

The model can use current data: hourly DAM prices from the Market Operator, Ukrenergo transmission tariff, distribution tariff of the selected DSO from NEURC and retail diesel price from open market sources. CAPEX is calculated through FOB price per kWh, P-rate and USD/UAH rate from the NBU API. If external sources are unavailable, the calculator falls back to manual assumptions for electricity, diesel price and exchange rate. Before a commercial proposal, supplier terms and the real consumption schedule must be checked.

Power: capacity x P-rate. Usable capacity: nominal x DoD 0.85 x round-trip efficiency 0.93.
The backup scenario is compared with the diesel alternative after diesel price is loaded.
Cash flow is calculated for 15 years: gross savings minus battery resource reserve, OPEX and SOH degradation.
